1999 Honda Ody. - intermittent stalling - - recall was done
I have a 1999 Honda Ody. delivered to me August, 1999.
The dealer says that the ignition switch recall work was already done. The car will intermittently stall and completely loses power without warning. The only indication what is going on is that the key immbolizer light will go on and then the car dies. This has happened going like 35 - 40 miles per hour. I am terrified to drive the car. I have small kids that are in the car with me alot. I brought the car in a few weeks ago, and a cylinder on the engine was replaced (the car started jittering really bad, the tech thought it would also correct the stalling - it has not).
Is it possible that the recall ignition switch work has gone bad and it has to be done again? The service tech at the dealer doesn't think so. I know about the wire recall thing also (wire coming into contact with a pipe causing a fuse short and sudden loss of power). What happens is that after the stall I can restart the car. The stalling is not causing any registration in the computer memory that can be looked at.
What really concerns me is that if this happens at high speed in a parkway/thruway sitution with the kids in the car - it can be fatal. Please help.
