either your starter is going out, your ignition switch, or bad grounds. do you hear any clicking when trying to start?

Let the key chill in the ON position for a moment before you start it. This is when the fuel pump primes.

Are you the kind of person that just pops the key in and turns it without waiting?

When you put the key in and turn to position III immediately does anything happen at all? Meaning does engine try cranking or just nothing happens and you have to keep turning it a few times? If nothing happens the electrical portion of the ignition may be going. Obviously diagnosing is in order, but a common one to consider.

When I put the key in, I always wait for my fuel pump to prime and wait till the beeping stops.

After all the beeping is gone I turn the key to position III, nothing happens. Engine does not try cranking. Simply, every electrical component shut off like it always does when starting up a car.

Then I either have to stay in III for a long time so the engine starts, or I have to go from I > II > III quickly for several times.

So I gather it has to be electrical, right? What are the few common things I need to check/replace in this situation?

So, what do I do with the clutch sensor? replace it? Sounds like a lot of work.

the clutch sensor is not hard at all to remove. might be a pain to get to, but removal is easy.
if your "feel" is a bit funny on the pedal, my money would be a clutch sensor.
