Default Blower question

Hey guys I am pretty new to the bored and really to hondas. My girlfriend has a 98 civic two door and she is having problems with her air/heat system. I searched a bit but it seems the only results with blower motor were a few F/S and a guy the swapped systems.

When she turns the fan on it makes an awful noise. The slow speeds seem to be louder then as you turn the fan up the noise eventually goes away.

I think its something to do with the blower motor area. Anybody have this experience before or have suggestions/ideas.

Is it easy to replace the blower motor(car has A/C).

Your help is appreciated

Edit: Just relized there is an archived button in the search. I will go back and look

It's the blower motor (the bearings really), I had to replace mine in my 92 Si. It's like $100 when I bought mine. It's hella-easy to replace too.

Thats what I was thinking. I found an online service manual and it looked easy. Is there a certain post that has any pics of the process. There are 133 results to dig through on the search.

Yeah it's held on (from what I remember) with three nuts and it slides on and off some studs.

I did mine at night and it was VERY easy.

Acutally I had a similar problem, before you go out and buy a new motor. Clean out the fan, you can reach it under your passenger side dash.

Fan? Is that different than the blower motor or are you just giving it a diff name.

I will remove the blower motor and check it before buying a new one.

I have seen instances at work where leafs and debris gets into the fan area and make noise as the cage is rotating over the leafs. Worth the time (very easy) to drop it down and see if theres anything in there that would be causing a noise
Good luck

i just had to replace mine because the plastic fan was messed up and it was rubbing on the inside wich made a loud noise like you were sayin. i picked one up a junkyard and cost $37.00 and dont have the problem anymore. i have a 94 and it was 4 phillips to take off the glove compartment and 3 phillips screws to pull down the blower motor and 1 plug to disconect it was real easy.

Just thought I would let everyone know that I replaced the blower motor this weekend. It didn't take to long and there was a stick in the blower wheel but the motor was still the culprit.

One thing that I never saw mentioned in any post about blower motors was how to remove the blower wheel from the blower motor.

I thought there was some sort of clip after removing the retaining ring but all you do is just lift up on the wheel from underneath with two screw drivers while tapping the center post until the wheel slides up off the shaft.

Thanks for the help.
