Well guys I got my old stockers out and im about to aircraft remover airsol them. Ill post pics in as soon as I am done, i plan on just getting them to machined surface and polishing them up. Havent seen it done so wish me luck

 

OK after 4 coats of aircraft remover on each wheel this is the finished poduct...it took off the top layer of Gunmetal and the OE CW coats...They were in pretty poor shape.






Let me know what you think so far. I am using some eagle one polish right now and it seems to suck...I have a crafstman bench buffer I may try and use but that would take forever and me buying some more clay.

you said you are using eagle one polish, but did you do any sanding after using the aircraft remover? Even if you use some fine grit sandpaper then use mother polish you will be amazed at the outcome.

I didnt do any sanding, the reason why i put the ealge one on was to have something on the surface so it doesnt get those little white oxidation spots that come up on alluminum wheels whithout clearcoats or some sort of paint.

Nah i still need to polish them up some, I like the machined lines that are in them. Im gonna keep the inside of the spoke kinda rough casting look.

 

glad you used aircraft stripper, regular paint stripper is GHEY.

get a good high temp clearcoat if you want them to stay with the polished look, otherise it's easy and cheap to paint them, now that you've done the hardest part

i think you've inspired me to re-refinish my wheels. almost easier than trying to clean brake dust. use lots of clear coat to help mediate this.

Just wondering, does getting that highly abrasive stuff on your tires have any negative effects?

 

No clue, the tires are crap tho. They are being replaced as soon as the sanding-polishing is done.

 

could you use this stuff on valve covers too?

Yes, people use Aircraft Remover on VCs

not so much abrasive ....but more so acidic....yes, i cant imagine that stuff NOT eating through rubber if it eats paint.

I would never consider using that stuff on /near my tires for the sake of blowout.

but i have no real exp with it, so take it fwiw.
