brake/parts cleaner bad for LSD and tranny bearings?
Reassembling my tranny parts, want to make sure they are as clean as possible (dust, fuzz, dirt, etc). Is brake parts cleaner bad for things like the bearings and LSD? Should I just rinse lightly with water instead and use compressed air to dry the parts?
as long as there are no rubber gaskets I don't see a problem with using brakleen. I use it to clean bearings in truck hubs before repacking them. hope that helps.

right but it should be a sealed bearing.

as long as you plan on re-oiling everything back up, you are fine. Brake clean to your hearts content. its just cleaning it all out. I do it to all my rebuilds. I'd ratherr see you use a parts cleaner. there is a lot of little metal pieces stuck in a lot of crevaces.

And make sure you dry the parts then grease them back up with tranny fluid before installing (except for the press fit gears of course).
