Anybody running motor oil in their tranny??
Well i went to the Honda dealorship wanting to buy some tranny fluid and new
badges (Yeah i have the white ricer badges), but the guy at the counter said i could run motor oil and that only the newer 2000+ cars need tranny fluid. Is there any truth to that? If so what grade motor oil do you reccommend? thanks

I would get honda MTF. Theres alot of info if you try a search. Anyways do you konw if the fill/check plug on the tranny is backwards for instance clockwise is to loosen it and counter clockwise is the tighten it????
I would stick to the MTF also. It works, and your synchros will love you.
The tranny drain and fill bolts are normal thread. Righty tighty, lefty loosey

My '92 Helms manual says to use 10W30 or 10W40 motor oil and change it every 2 years or 30,000 miles.
They know what their talking about.

If you do use motor oil, you'll need to change it after about 3,000 miles. Use it only on a temporary basis.
