Default Draining Engine for Winter?

My car is now in for the winter, i will be doing a lot of work on it over the winter. I plan on draining all the oil/coolant and leaving the engine fluid-less pretty much all winter.

I know this is a stupid question but is there anyharm to leaving the engine fluid-less for a long period of time? I know there will be residual oil on the crank so im not so worried about it but I dont want any corrosion forming on the water jacket or anything....

Just wanted to double check and make sure its ok
