Okay, no rebuild or swap needed....
...Except now my 1.3L carbureted motor won't start. Replaced distributor cap and rotor as they were pretty bad. Just kinda frustrated, gave up for the night before I did something crazy with high explosives...

Update:
Motor turns over fine, and has compression. Getting gas to the carb, but evidently no spark. Replaced the plugs, no start. Checked the distributor cap and rotor, they were pretty grungy, so I replaced them...still no start. Going to check the coil and igniter unit today, but I'm running out of ideas here.
Any help much appreciated.

Check to make sure your getting spark. Get a spare spark plug and hook it up to one of the wires (leave the oher plug in - you dont want gas getting out of the cylinder and exploding). Ground the base of the plug on the chassis and turn over the engine. If you dont have spark, then theres your poblem. If you have spark, check the distributer timing is right, and if your timing belt is okay.
