1st turbo build - please check out and few noob ?
I am going to bulid first turbo setup for my friend. I am from Czech (central Europe) and its hard to find somebody for help or for tune.
The Engine will be D16Z5 (OBD0 EDM DOHC Non-VTEC) it is very close to ZC1.
Here is the setup:
HF Manifold (just for start, some better will come later)
Garrette T25 (just for start, T3 later)
unknown FMIC 27,5x8,5x2,5 (2,5 inlet/outlet)
Vitara Pistons from fjt with new rings
TunerToys H-Beam Forged rods
Stealthmode Performance oil line kit
450cc DSM Black Top Injectors
ACL Race Main and Rod Bearing - 0,25 over
Custom 2,5 Charge Piping
BOV by Bidrin (Czech made, but good )
Metal Head gasket.
3 BAR MAP - not sure if I need it
I want to tune it via Turboedit, with wideband O2 and EGT
Is there something wrong in this setup or semething missing?
I have also some stupid noob questions:
1) Which wideband O2 use? I want to datalog, but if I use a turboedit there is a dataloggin so I dont need to use for example LM-1 which have datalogging, I ca use just LC-1?? Is this right?
2) Do I need to use a different MAP senzor? I want to boost about 10 PSI at this time but later we want to try more with a diferent turbo.
3) If I am using RTP with PGMFI Emulator, I just need to have a soketed PM7 ECU + Emulator + some cable + program (Turboedit) and thats all? When I done some map, I can burn it on chip or still use an laptop?
4) How can I check knocking on my engine?
Thats all for this time :-)
Sorry about my stupid questions and sorry about my english

an lc-1 will work fine for you...its what i use.

with as many changes as you are making at one time, i would start out with the stock map and ~8psi to get everything running right. then change to a different map if you want to get a different turbo and run higher boost. (just a suggestion)

the emulator goes in place of the chip...when you have everything tuned, yes, you can take out the emulator and burn a chip...or leave the emulator.
hopefully there is no misinformation in there

Have you've seen the FAQ at the very beginning of the section:

if your going to build the motor dont go with parts you are going to upgrade later like the turbo and the manifold, because everytime you change something you have to retune the car, and dyno time is pretty expensive. Also for a built motor you should be aiming pretty high for our whp numbers so go with good parts. If you have never tuned a car before, DONT tune it yourself, your will most likely mess up the tune and ruin your motor.
