Default H22 Build Q&A's

Alright i have just bought a 1999 Honda Prelude Sh about a month ago. and i already broke it "(DOH!!)" in short term explaination i was driving on the free way and another prelude tried to race me and i went to downshift from 5th to 4th but tagged 2nd instead. and the speed est. 100mph. but you get the picture.

I am wanting to rebuild the motor instead of getting a new one. i have recently taken the whole top head off and everything looks fine but i got a piston ring between my crank shaft bolt that holds the rod in. i dont know how but it is hanging out there.

I want to Boost it. and basically what i have started this tred for is basically for a little help and direction in peoples past or present experiences or knowlgde.

I'm new when it comes to all of where to buy parts or what to choose. im not saying i am complete retarded, but i know more bout bolt ons then bottom enternals. and i would like help to get a full caption of everything.

First of all, regarding the cylinder head, just because it looks ok, doesnt mean it is. If you over revved the motor and it broke the bottom end, its highly possible that the piston may have hit the valves as well on the head, causing them to bend. They may look ok, but bent valves is no good. Check that out as well.

As far as the bottom end, theres so many ways to go about it. Sleeved block, stock rebuild, Forged pistons and rods, bigger bore for more displacement, turbo or all motor.

Also if parts are all over the place on that bottom end, there could be damage on the cylinder walls itself and possibly the crankshaft as well. IF they are damaged badly, you cant reuse that block for the build and you'd have to get a new one. This is just worst case scenario. Make sure you have a qualified person take a look at your block to see if its even useable.

If you have more detailed questions, I'll be glad to help you out. Just email me.
