Default carbon hood "floating"

98 4door accord lx

My carbon fiber hood is latched but when I drive it appears as if the hood is moving up and down... like floating in place... I'm scared it's gonna fly off or something... another accord driver motioned to me about this while I was driving on the nj turnpike... what can I do? Is this normal for carbon fiber hoods?

thanks for any info

Does the hood come in contact with the factory hood bushings?

You may need to do some adjustments

A thought

Bingo. Because carbon fiber hoods are lighter (and usually more flexible), the lift caused by air moving over the car is now great enough to "pull up" on the hood. There are no gaurantees that the hood latch will stay connected to the rest of the hood, which is also dependant on how well the hood was made.

You have 2 choices to avoid your hood flying up and smacking your windshield:
1. Hood pins.
2. OEM hood.

You could get painted CF or fiberglass? That's probably your best bet!

(something like a 95 mustang kinda a way)

ha not like bunch of holes or stuff like that, just bit more rugged.

I dont want to get carbon cause i dont want to deal with hood pins.. In my area it will get people trying to steal my hood panted or not.

get a c/f hood and have it painted. Im pretty sure you can find a variety of c/f hood styles. Remember, the whole thing about c/f is weight reduction.
