Timing is more than likely off a little, or there is a fault in the fuel or spark systems.

if you just bought the car and it had no problems before then i would look at the ignition system first.

i would start with your wires, ive seen this happen on 4 cars of mine and it was always the wires

and cels are "check engine lights"

Well seriously. My EX same as his (92-95..but same **** engine IMO) doesn't have any power before 3k.. Are you sure it's not just the low displacement of the engine?

Have you driven other EX's so you KNOW yours isn't giving you power?

NVM, there's my answer. You're new to hondas. So I'll start you up with my first piece of advice. Read a lot. This predeccesses my second piece, which is a D16 or D15 engine has no power in the early RPM's.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your car. Hondas aren't rockets, they're slower than ****, that's why everybody boosts 'em, builds 'em, or swaps in an ACURA motor. I can bet money that there's nothing wrong with it and you just expected it to be a rice rocket and it's not. Low displacement = no low end torque (no torque period). Car's fine, you want power down there, boost it or swap. You'll need more low end torque, and there's no replacement for displacement.

EDIT:
Yeah, this may sound like a bashing, but it's 100% the truth. You'll have to deal wtih it :-\. Sorry, shoulda researched before you bought a civic.

/thread

This really should be locked because there's nothing wrong with his car. He's simply experiencing what we all experienced at one time, the epiphany when you realize a stock honda (except for 99-00) has no power what-so-ever.
