Default is my timing messed up ??

i have this weird - chatter like sound - when my car is under heavy load, especially high RPM. also, i lost a lot of power at high RPM, it seems like my car bog down. i thought my clutch was slipping, but then i ask my automotive teacher, and he said that my best bet would be the timing. he was saying something about the fuel does not properly burnt, and my lost of power would be the result from it. however, if my clutch does not engage ( if i rev the car when in neutral, the noise goes away.)

what do you guys think? thanks for the input in advance.

not really. it sounds like a loose bearing or something, but my teacher said it sounds like the fuel does not burnt properly. the thing is, if i go WOT, the car does not pull at all, it does not have power. i compared my car to my friends, with the same car, same year and mileage, and his pulled way stronger than mine.

well if it is fuel, u can try running some sea foam through ur vacuum lines and your fuel system. u can pick it up at any auto store.
