PLEASE HELP.....CRANK PULLY BOLT
I have been working the mini-mi on my 88 crx si trying absolutly every thing i could think of please help me with this crank pully bolt. i have a 380 ft/lb impact gun and a 18'' strongarm i've heated it up, and nothing, i've pulled on it so hard that the engine actually jumpsa good 3'' ,FYI need new engine mounts, the engine is still in the car with no head and a stuck crank pully. also it is the 88 so the pulley is smooth inside and out so there is no special hexagon tool i could use either. it is so frustrating its takin' all my power not to just start beatin' the thing with my sledge hammer. PLEASE HELP ME ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS WILL BE DOULY NOTTED AND MORE THEN LIKELY TESTED. thanks.
There is wholes in the crank pulley correct...my 91 Si had them and not the hex shape...what I did was got 2 bolts put the through the holes and then put a piece of steel between them, long enough to hit the floor or the frame...as you turn the crank one bolt hits the one side and the other hits the other side..or if you have a piece of steel with whole in it bolt it to the crank pulley...either way once the pipe/steel hits the fram or floor give it a nice quick snap on the bolt and you should be able to break it loose...usually have the car in gear with someone smashing the brakes and a nice 6' to 10' breaker bar

tried that and i blew apart the two bolts holding it in plus my 18'' breaker bar. but i'll go to rent-a-tool tommarow and see if i find one of those industrial strap wrenches. thanks please keep the responses coming. considering as last resort towing it to Canadian tire and using one of there 1600ft/lb impact guns but that like 80 buck of labour-discount
I broke the holes in my crankpulley too using methods menrion above. Since you already have the head out, Just take the whole engine out and put a wrench between clutch cover bolt and engine bolt. Works for me. Search on how to remove crankpulley bolt in the forums and you'll find tons of ideas.

I just got mine out last weekend. I read all these horror stories but came with my own method - which worked like a charm.
I put 1 bolt in one of the pulley's blind holes (like a 3/8" dia bolt) - propped my jack handle underneith the bolt (verically from the floor to the bolt - bolt at the 9 o'clock position) to hold the pulley in place. I used my 1/2" drive with a bar (total of 18" length) and my leg to push - and pop it came loose <30sec.
I realize that some people have bolts that are REALLY stuck - but this worked for me. oh-yeah, I soaked it with some PB Blaster for about 1hr prior.
goood luck

no such luck with a bigger impact gun, my tank was too small. however i'm gonna take it to work and use our massive compressors there i just have to hope the bossman lets me. i'll have to get it towed there and back free one way but 50 bucks the second. oh well it should work out and ill convience my boss today so i can do it tommary if it doesn't work more suggestions world be greatly appreciated.
