Default I just got my R less than a year ago and I think its time to sell her

yep I've been thinking long and hard about this and it may HAVE to get sold or traded. I've been looking into other cars and with the problems my R been having I think it already time to let it go. A WRX seems to be in the near future (godspeed brain washed me). I figure I'm only using my R to about 50% or less of its ability because I don't have the time to track it all the time. I don't take it to the drag strip because its not made for that. I will miss the twisties in the mountians and taking dips up in harriman NY but I think AWD fun in the snow and launches will clear that up. Also the sound of a BOV and a turbo spoolin will remidy the VTEC loose. What do you guys think??

Also what kind of cash do you think I could get with my R

01 PY with 14449 miles of it:
mugen header and twin loop
carsound cat
ATS final
Exedy clutch
toda flywheel
NEW falkin Azenis

do you think I can get more on the private market or a a dealership without the mod then sell the Mugen stuff seperate?

Strip it of parts, sell those. Then sell it yourself. Dealerships will not give you as much as the open market. Sorry to see ya go.

I'm asking 22.9 with Toda goodness or 21.9 without for my 2000 with 27k miles.

Both deals include spare wheels/tires, too.

I've seen dealers asking as high as $25k for one likes yours (although I think that is nuts). The key is what would you be willing to take for it? Asking price just gets folks to look - what you end up selling for is the key

I'd say you could get around $21k in the private market. Don't take it to a dealership, you will get raped on the price.

those aftermarket parts are worht nothing if you decide to sell the car.

return it back to stock and try to sell.

if you can't sell it, hopefully you can get close to $20g's on a trade and sell the aftermarket parts to make up the difference.

probably closer to $15-$17g's on a trade though.

problem:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=170448

there were some more problems including replacing the secondary 02 sensor, and getting my clutch adjusted like 5 times. Now after the shaking thing my car doesn't seem to be as fast or as smooth. Acura can't find a problem and that just pisses my off

I was checkin out this white S2K at the dealership last weekend and they offered me $21,000 for a trade in.......I just couldn't get a 2 seater roadster.

Oh yeah, I have a 2001 with 22k in good condition.

yeah I couldn't justify getting a two seater convertable in NJ either. That weather is way to sketchy and I've got friends that like to go for rides. Also If I've got a friend in the car and see a hot girl where's is she gonna sit????

No matter what you do, you can still hang with us in R-speed.

I think you will be happy with the WRX. Not anymore happier not less. The WRX is a fast car that may not brake or turn as well as a ITR, but the car does respond very well to modifications. Good luck !!

(once I get my act together and start organizing meets! Church-work-racing-getting ready for expo-etc. is taking up tons of my time)

NighthawkR16, what dealership were you at? How much were they asking for the s2k? $21k for a trade in is awesom unless they rip you on the price of the s2k. Was it MSRP, or over by a lot?

I was at Gillman Honda in San Antonio, TX. It was a 2002 S2K with front rear spoilers and side valences and thats about it......they were asking around $36,000 driveout which is ok, I think I would have been able to talk them down a little bit more.....if I really wanted an S2K I would have bought it right there and then.

I think your right though, he probably would have gotten his money back somehow, like a high interest rate or something. I felt that the trade in was to good to be true as well, almost too tempting.....I know the S2K had been sitting in the show room for a while.

I drove my friends WRX, and i wasn't really impressed, its a fast car and pulls hard but I like my ITR a whole lot better, and VTEC is the best sound any car can ever make!!! I dont care how hard a turbo'd car can blow off, a car with VTEC screamin is just amazing....but blow off does sound tight......haha i dont know the point of this post but I'd rather have an ITR over a WRX, but I will have the DC5-R....sooo there we go

of coarse stock for stock I would get an ITR hands down. But I'm of coarse gonna mod the car heavily. Suspension, brakes, turbo, fuel system, chip, TRANSMISSION (I hear they are pretty sloppy sometimes). Now if I pour all those mods in that car it would be an M3 eating, RX-7 killing, mustang rapping BEASt w/ AWD. to do that to my R I would have to be a freaking millionare and plus I'm really getting sick of FWD (damn traction issues)

oh yeah and I can't wait to actually take me car out without getting it valet parked where ever I go and I may be able the park this thing on the STREET (gasp)

I know this tread is about selling your car but i did read the other thread about the shaking problem you were/are having and i thought i would take a stab at it.

I once had a Taurus SHO and it started to violently buck at random times. It was months before it did this in the presence of a mechanic. After changing several things the final thing that was left to change in the ignition system, the crank position sensor turned out to be the problem.

Now i cannot say if a Type R has such a sensor since i only recently got mine and i am not really familiar with what it has and has not but i think it is worth checking to see if is one of these possible things.
