Default car rev's during warm up.

when i start my car my engine is at 3000 rpms and after like ten seconds it drops down to around 1500 rpms. this continuously revs up and down until the car is warmed up. since it is warming up, it doesnt go back up to 3000 every time. it gradually drop more and more while still reving up and down. my oil and radiator fluid are fine. havent messed around with the ecu either. any ideas anybody?

Thermo dohickie

FITV or somthin, somone correct me please.

Its most likely this, Its on the bottom of the Throttle body, take off the brass looking cap, two screws, theres a white plug in it, screw it al the way down tight, then back it off three turns. that should fix it.

this happened to my 93 4 door. turned out to be a carbon filled IACV valvle. My mechanic said he just cleaned it out, didnt need to replace it. Completely fixed the problem.

yeah take off your air intake at the throttle body. when you look at the butterfly in the throttle body you will notice two holes toward the rear. cover them one at a time this should stop the reving. if it does you can remove that the on the back of your intake manifold that is bolted on ( forgot the name) it has a coolant line run to it & clean it or you can plug the holes. its there to warm the car up during cold idles. i just weld mine shut. my gsr throttle body had it and my b16 didn't so i figured i dont really need it.

They are not useless, in cold weather your car will barely run until it warms up, which in turn will take forever at less than 1000 rpm!
