Transmission Fluid
I have a 95 ex coupe, i changed my cv's out and was looking in my Haynes repair manual, and noticed theyre pouring 5w30 motor oil in the car, they used to write the manual. So i went and got Quaker state High RPM synthetic blend, 10W40 this alright to use?
i use gm syncromesh....u can get it from the dealer, or u can get them from autozone... it is made by pennzoil. helps reduce grinding at high rpm
at the dealer they have the one with friction modifier and regular...... autozone has the reg stuff in a yellow bottle, by the gear oils
I pennzoil makes the stuff for GM.... the weight is like 75w ish gear oil ... which is the same viscosity as 10-30w motor oil
the bottle has no weight on it
YES viscosity and weight are 2 different things

try reading his post correctly next time. he gave you completley true advice and facts in his post. and if pennzoil is "junk oil" to you then why are they making it for a huge automobile company??? try thinking next time.

No, it's not. Pennzoil Synchromesh, along with GM Synchromesh and genuine Honda MTF, are some of the most widely used and recommend fluids for Honda transmissions here on Honda-Tech. You asked a question, and cueballsi gave you an informed reply. Don't use the 10W-40 in your transmission. Stick with one of the three listed above.

If they were putting in 5W30, what made you go out and get 10W40? My buddies and I use Honda MTF.

I use MTF, no issues there. (well I assume its the same blend, I actually use the acura stuff) They just changed the fluid to a newe "improved" blend, at least acura did. It was purple! They claim better fuel economy and smoother shifting. Whatever, as long as its Honda and works.
