Is it possible to have a Knock in the motor if your timing is messed up.

So far i have headder and intake and have done multiple valve adjustments.

 

If the noise is while at idle, it probably isn't the timing

 

i know what your talking about. its nothing really. just your motor running. Hows the condition of your exuahst?

 

there's no holes in the exhaust and all the bolts are tight. you can hear its comming from the motor i poped the hood a few hours ago and had a buddy come over just to make sure i wasent crazy and just hearing sh*t but he heard it. and also thought it was comming from the head. I know the timing is off beacuse the distributor was replaced and i didnt have a timing light to check but would that make a big difrence and it happens at 2100 rpm or higher its also an off beat tick or knock

How do you mess up putting a distributor on?

All you needed to do was notch the block, then make sure the new distributor shaft is in the same place as the other and put it back on.. Jesus..

Anyway, Is it a KNOCK, or is it a tapping noise?

Because a head Wouldnt knock, and if it was your car wouldnt be running

 

its more of a knock and i was dumb when i did the distributor. but the car still drives its just sulgish
