I was driving my car the other day and it started to hesitate and I was just driving through town at 25mph when it happened and it just got worse and worse as I drove home. When I got home I installed the stock coil in it to see if the external msd was the cause. When I started it, it sounded like it was running on like 2 cylinders and I unplugged one of the wires and it died and wouldnt start. So I replaced the distributor with a brand new one and it cranks and sputters like it wants to start but wont. Also when its cranking it turns over like 3 times fast and slows down the 4th. I checked the timing and it was fine but just to be sure I reset it and it still did the exact same thing.

 

sounds like you checked spark, how about fuel? Do you have good fuel pressure, areyour injectors working?

 

sounds like its washed down, put a little oil in each cylinder to help seal the rings and try again, if it starts, burn off the oil then change plugs. It sounds like they are all very black.

 

What would cause this? I did a compression test last week and it was 175 160 165 175. Do I need a rebuild?
