Default Who has problems with the short shifter??

I have DC shifter installed and i love it for daily driving. Shifting is nice and quick....The only problem that I have is that sometimes when i race, and i try to throw it into gear, it will just "stop" as though ive hit a wall....it just WONT go into gear. It happends every now and then. This never happends when im daily driving...only when i race. Anybody else have this problem? What the hell is wrong??

From what i have heard the quality of the DC shifters is not great at all. I have heard of people actually breaking them. This is only heresay. I know if you want a nice short throw with a stock feel to it you need to invest in a C's short shifter. They are more money but are worth it to keep the stock feel yet have a much shorter throw. On a side note you might try shifter bushings (either Neuspeed or Energy Suspension) and see if that helps at all. Good luck.

I'd venture to say that it is not the short shifter at all. This is because when you shift slowly when daily driving the syncros in the tranny have time to move the gears. When you shift quickly it is possible that the syncros cannot catch up with the speed of the shift. Sometimes, slightly pausing during a quick shift may do the trick. Finally, it could be because of the short shifter, the leverage you have when shift could be thrown off and so you do not have full movement of the shifter to select the gears.

good luck

Just for reference, many people have broken their DC short shifters. It's aluminum right? Basically they'll shift and the whole shifter will snap....that could be a problem. I personally am leaning towards a Skunk2 SS if the funds become available.

Check to see if the shifter is not hitting the exhaust. Mine did the samething, and I had to cut the exhaust heat shield for clearance.

Get the C's kit. It's kinda notchy but other than that very good quality.

But it makes your car go faster steve! Good for at least 10 whp! I think it is a waste of money too, but mine was a gift so i can't complain. If i was going to waste my own money on one i would definatly spend the extra cash for the C's over the DC one.

my car came with an str aluminum short shifter on it, broke in half luckily not while driving hard. I just bought a skunk2, it is high quality, not really a shorter throw than a stock i would think, and am guessing it is around the price of oem(got it for 115 shipped 2nd day)
