Default valve guides suck!!!!

what is the easy way to take out the valve guides? i found the snap-on guide driver, and ive read the helms reccomending i heat the head to 300F. is this the only way to do it? or is there an easier way?

Heating it up in your kitchen oven will make it easier. Otherwise the "easiest" method is to pay a shop to do it for you.

Homework:

look up the thermal expansion coefficients for cast aluminum and cast iron. then write a paragraph about how heat plays a role in in tight tolerance interference fitment of automotive parts such as bearing races, piston and piston rings (especially in FI apps.), valve guides and seats.

This will be a job for the engine rebuilder, like you said, get the old one out. 10 years ago it was drill the old one out, very good drill bit and press of course, hammer and driver in new bronze guide, cut it off to length and then force in a special tool (drift punch with a ball of the perfect size on it), the ball forced the new guide against the head (tunnel) tightly and opened the guide to the correct size for the valve stem and leave room for a (very) little oil to lubricate. You must be sure the valve tip is not mushroomed out or it will score the new guide upon reassembly, the valves should be reworked and the seats also, send the head out to get this done.
