Default Spoon thermostat

Thanks to Dave @ R&D for the Spoon thermostat. He is a good guy. i dont care what everyone else says!

I went ahead and installed it tonight. I have never done this before. Took me around 2 hours. I had to take off some stuff i didn't think i would have to take off (intake, dist cap, strut bar). The two bolts that hold the housing on where the thermostat sits were hard to get to. Oh well i put in some Water Wetter along with tap water and mixed a bit of Honda coolant to keep things lubricated. We'll see how everything holds up for the upcoming lapping sessions.

The Honda coolant I bought was pre-mixed...are you sure you were supposed to add water? And I think distilled water is best...

One version is pre-mixed the other is concentrate. I'm pretty sure Type 1 is concentrate and Type 2 is pre-mix.

Well i was going to do a full coolant flush but didn't have the time. I was planning on running a hose and flushing everything out the right way. I only had time to drain the radiator. I added a little Water Wetter at first then some water, then more Watter Wetter and mixed a little coolant with the water.

On a side note i am not sure that distilled water is better than tap water? Never heard of this.

Tap water can cause rust and corrosion

Distilled water is free of any minerals which might calcify inside your radiator. Either that, or I am totally in need of a vacation!

You should use distilled because it doesn't have the chemicals and minerals that can build up inside the radiator.
