Default Which fuel pump to use? 94 dx with b18c.

What fuel pump should i use??? I have a 94 dx with a GSR swap in it. Now, i know the fuel pump in the car isnt sufficient. What pump should i use, which walboro pump???

u dont really need one for a swap unless u want to..im running a gsr in my 98 civic and it runs fine

just so you know, your civic fuel pump doesnt put enough flow out. Did you know that the NON vtec integra fuel pump, flows less then the Vtec fuel pump. So i guaruntee you that your civic pump does not flow as much as a NON vtec integra.

So...

WHAT pump should i put in??? Walbro 195 or something?

You think a GSR is going to max out a stock civic pump? You're wrong. If my turbo motor was using a stock pump your stock GSR making less power certainly can.

Prove it...

I have numbers here that say a VTEC gsr pump flows more then a non vtec integra. Now i know a dx gas saver is not going to flow ANYWHERE near a non vtec integra, let alone a VTEC gsr pump....

I just want to know what god damn pump to use.... 195lph work??? From my mechanic experience, i know when a car is running lean.. MINE IS... so, i want a correct pump.. thats all. Just wanted some recommendations.

Your problem is probably tunning related, ecu, or injector. More than likely tunning or ecu.

But if you must get a fuel pump to make you feel better then why not get a bigger than stock pump. That way you have room to up grade.

If you think about it your fuel system is limited and can be varied by different factors such as ECU, injectors, and fuel pump(just typical examples but not all). So, if your running lean that is a air/fuel mixture problem that can, more than likely, be solved by tunning and/or a new ecu.

Oh, and by the way I am running a high compression b18c1 with 300cc injectors on STOCK fuel pump.

If your running a stock fuel system with a B seires in a civic you just need to check to make sure that the car is getting the right amount of fuel preusre. If you want to change the pump you might as well get an aftermarket one like a walbro 190. But you will still need to set the fuel preusre to OEM specs unless you have bigger injectors of your going to be tuning it, which is recomended unless you have a stock swap. ie no aftermarket header cat intake etc.

Heres the deal. The GSR vtec fuel pump and the civic fuel pump. have the same psi. roughly 52 psi at full throttle. Well, the vtec pump moves more volume at that psi then the non vtec pump.

Low rpms it yanks, but starts falling off up top...

I will dyno it pre pump and post pump and post the results...

well make sure you update the thread 'cause i want to know this too. my car runs 'fine' with the stock cx pump, but then why didn't honda put the stock cx pump in the gsr?

You need the correct ECU, trust me your stock pump is fine! If the injectors were different that would have an effect but most D's and all B series have 240cc injectors so, something else is wrong. Putting a bigger pump in will not help you...

im running a h22 with a stock civic fuel pump with no problem. so unless you plan to put down some serious power, i say save your money.

its funny how you all say "its fine". You honestly have no idea. That stock fuel pump isnt designed for that motor. It isnt flowing enough volume.

I will do the dyno before and after. If im wrong, then im wrong.. But i have tested everything else.

Nothing is wrong with the ecu.

thats what i always point out when everybody says its 'ok' use itr cams with stock gsr springs if you keep it under 8.2krpms. I wish people would provide evidence to back claims more in these forums. Everyone wants to be the guy who "knows"

Exactly my thoughts. I am a technician/advisor and i know when something isnt right.. i have dialed in the cams, the timing, the fuel pressure, had the injectors cleaned. The car isnt pulling like a stock gsr in an integra should pull. Its still quick, but you can tell when your in the 3rd,4th and 5th gears, the pulling up top is lacking... ITs not getting enough fuel. Spark plugs have a light dusting of white and thats just from 2500 miles or so...

Anyways, w\hen i get off my but, i will get a fuel pump on it...

You want to know why you're wrong? Put a wideband o2 sensor on it. If my stock civic pump can supply a 10:1 AFR (really rich) on a 170-180 hp turbo car then there is no way you're getting a lean (15:1 and up) condition with a stock motor. I don't care who you are, you obviously don't have experience in this department and you're wrong. If there is something wrong with your pump that might be something different but a correctly working stock civic pump will supply you with plenty of fuel.

Well mechanic I say just get a walbro 255 lph HP fuel pump and you will enough gas for whatever you decide later and be done with it.

Well, that has got me thinking. What else could it be then??

I know for fact that a integra fuel pump pushes more volume then a civic pump.. Just the difference in non vtec and a vtec fuel pump are different. SOOO, is my pump just taking a **** on me??? Is your pump that puts out 10.1 a civic vtec pump????

I just cant figure else out what it would be. EVERYTHING checks out like it should EXCEPT the pump....
Here, check this right quick.

This is fuel pump performance, not regulated fuel pressure.

pressure psi volume per 10 sec
integra gsr pump 40 .41 (.22L)
integra non vtec 35 .34 (.20L)


So, now are you saying a civic dx econobox fuel saver will push as much fuel as a vtec gsr pump????

My stock civic pump ('93 DX) works just fine for my H22A. From what I've seen of others' swaps, plenty of guys run H22A's on stock civic pumps without issues.

I think your pump must be faulty. The injectors regulate the fuel with duty cycle and they don't come close to 100% duty cycle until maybe 200+ hp (on a non turbo car). A stock pump isn't even close to being maxed until over 300+ hp. Naturally aspirated cars don't need nearly as rich a mixture as turbo cars and that is why I can tell you assuredly that my nonvtec D series pump was flowing plenty of fuel. Get some freeware EFI management like Crome or Uberdata or toss a wideband on the car to see what your AFRs are like. This will tell you if your car is running lean as you claim it is. Maybe there's an ignition problem you need to check out if you have high RPM problems.

I had a 92 civic dx that i had an H22 in, it ran fine.

You mentioned ignition problems.. Thats one thing i was considering. Say my ignitor, or coil or the dist itself is just not functioning correctly up high... I need to borrow one and see how it does with that....
