some pads have a wear indicator on them. When your pad gets low, the wear indicator squeaks so you know its time to change the pads. I guess a bad caliper COULD make it squeak, but it would be stuck in or out, and would pull left or right.

do u mean pull left or right like when driving and letting go of th wheel? because ive driven with no hands and it sails nice and straight :-) but sometimes it does pull when i break from a fast speed, but also my brake lines have air so that could cause that because of uneven pressure on both sides

Why are you asking us, take a look at your pads. Try to check the wheel where the squeel is coming from. We have no way of telling if your pads are worn down to the indicators or not. When you look at your pads, check the inner and outer pads, because the outer might look like it has some life left, but the inner could be worn to the rivets.

Odds are that the squeel is your wear indicator on the pads as stated earlier. And also said earlier, if your caliper is bad, most often which ever wheel has the bad caliper, the brake will be dragging there.

Put your car in nuetral and push the car, if it moves easily, none of your calipers are sticking, or jack up the wheels and spin the tires, if one doesn't spin, the caliper is sticking. Also make sure your parking brake is adjusted correctly and not applied while you are checking or changing the rear brakes.

The brake caliper could also be stuck IN. That would cause your car to pull left or right when you hit the brakes hard.

Inspect you old pad,
If the pads are evenly worn chances are you don't have a caliber issue, now if your right side is metal to metal and you left side is only 50% worn then you deffinetly have either a caliber issue or a bad brake hose.
Also if you let your pads get to low the caliber can over extend and when you go to commpress the piston it won't go in.
