Default 17 year old coolant hoses FTL.

I'm trying to locate the source of a small but persistant coolant leak. it appears the coolant is coming from the base of the transmission --WTF? I'm not aware that coolant flows through or above there, but everything else in the waterpump area looks dry this morning (having run the car for 20 mins).

Help!

it's probably running from the top of the engine down. What year exactally do you have and what model?

Could be a bad line running to the iacv or fit valve , and yes what year and model.
Also what engine.

Thanks for the replys guys... Pretty much exactly what I was thinking (replaced the IACV/FITV early this year).

The car is an 89 CRX Si with D16z6 running obd1. It's also throwing a code 17 now and has no speedometer.

It's very strange that it had the same exact problem about a year ago, and I just filled the radiator up and it was ok.

Either way, I'm stuck at work all day today, so I'll have to do some more searching and check my pdf Hayes manual later tonight

Still not sure where my leak is coming from. But I was able to get to work and back today running tap water (), and tomorrow probably dig up a mechanic thats open

Maybe coolant is running down from your coolant temp sensor under the distributor? Ive also seen intake manifold gaskets leak or hoses around the fitv or iacv that can run down along the trans

push the cable back down into the tranny. or check and make sure its still in the back of the cluster. bu it isnt uncommon for the speedo cable to break

Found the source: bad hose leading from the block under the distributor, to a valve going to the firewall, to the heater core, I assume. It would explain why this has started as I have been using my heater. doh.

I will post the pics if I can't find the part on schematic on Majestic honda.

Going to cut a generic 18" x 3/4" pipe and stick it on there so I can get to work this week.

Pic of the hose location

The hose

I believe it's #24 on this diagram:

Since Majestic honda shipping is too much, and I can't find the thing on SL Honda, I'll probably call my 2 local Honda dealerships and see what's up.

Someone know where to find #24 on San Leandro honda?

I replaced all of my heater hoses on my 91 civic with plain old 3/8" heater hose. I bought about 3 feet of it for under $3.00 and cut them to size myself.

Wow, I've been having the exact same problem! I'm running an LS/VTEC and it was dripping coolant after a drive. It would be fine on idle, but when there was water pressure there would be a leak. Turned out that it was leaking from the bottom of my lower radhose, where it connects to the engine. Your rad hose could be frayed a bit and seep out coolant when you're driving. I tightened up my hose clamp and now it works fine

EDIT: Whoops, reading comprehension owns me.

Nice to hear you found the problem
