Default H.I.D. preferance

Recently I have been looking at purchasing a set of hid emitters for my car. I have shopped around a little, but I am not too shure as to what kind I should get. So far I have seen bulbs ranging from 5500k-12000k. I want a clean white light that is very intense. What do you guys suggest? Any brands that are superior over others? Brands to watch out for? Help Please!

The lower the temperature, the whiter your lights will be. So look something under 5500K for white.

I bought a kit on ebay once. It was great. The only concern is the ballast would die in a year or so...then you spend $100 to replace it.

They have tons of faqs to help you out. Realistically you should do a retrofit if you're doing hid's and get 4100k-6000k.

I did a retro fit on mines, I drive an Acura EL (Canadian car), and used TSX HID's which are 6000K and find them great.

My question is as the K increases does the intensity, or is it just the color? I rely like how the deep blue lights look almost like a blacklight, but I dont know if they are going to illuminate blue or is it going to be a white light?

the Kelvin is the color range of the bulb. 4300k is what MOST OEM HID's are. Such as BMW/MB/Honda... This is a white light. The higher the kelvin the more blue you are putting into the color. The reason why you see blues and purples in 4300k OEM cars like BMW's is that at the right angle you are viewing the refraction of the other colors off of the cutoff plate. It goes way more in depth but... there are plenty of forums and faqs on this stuff
