Air Filter Question
I bought a shorty off ebay about 16mo ago
The filter only had a fine screen on the end that you could see through.
I recently figured that it may be allowing alot of dust and such into the engine(ewww
) so I covered it with duck tape to force the air through the filter paper.

am I beeing paranoid(the metal screen is pretty fine) , should I just put a little light oil on the screen(nit on paper of course)?

But better piston life

just use your stock airbox you dumbies, dyno tests have proven there are no noticeable gains for using a gay *** intake and k&n or copies. Why do it? The noise? The whole "I got an intake y0!" thing? ANY aftermarket filter will let crap into your engine that the stocker will not. if your that picky about thinking your intake helps then just get the k&n drop in. I forgot the link to the tests, but they were done by an independent lab...google air filter tests and youll find it.
God Im old....we were trying to hash this same problem out when I got my license, the year when most of you were probably born.

I could not find any independent tests on a CRX or other small car.
I did find one on a big diesel, but it was not in different intakes, just the filter
The K&N produced 316WHP on a dyno, and the plain paper filter produced 318WHP.
Imagine That!!!!!
I would like to see an independent comparison of stock and aftermarket intakes with that being the only difference(same warmup time from cold and all else)
