Default 96 and up civic owners!!! I need your help.

There are two 02 sensor on your header. Can you tell me what is the purpose of the one on the 4th or 1st exhaust and the one at the collector? I know its OBD2 so which 02 is for the catalytic convertor?

I know there are two 02 sensors found on the header of a 96 and up civic. My question is are both of them used to meaure the a/f mixture? It seems like both sensors are on the header....one on an exhaust port, and the other is at the collector. We know this is an OBII system, so where is the 02 sensor that is use to detect the operation of the catalytic convertor?

Isnt the catalytic convertor after the collector like all the other b16, b18 motor?

one of the o2 sensors is on the header, and the other is on top of the cat. at least for the d16y8 (civic ex).

If you have a Y7 (I assume you do, 96-00 SOHC Non-VTEC), then the one in the "manifold" part is for pre-cat, and the part at the bottom, sticking out of a cylindrical heatshield is cat. That cylindrical heat shield is protecting your in-manifold catalytic converter.

Either way there's one before and one on on ODB-II

So where is the catalytic convertor in a 96 DX? Is it after the collector or before the collector? I saw an after market header for d16 motor and there is no cat in the header itself. If thats the case, then there are 3 02 sensors in the civic DX? Two for a/f and one for the cat? Remember, that I have no clue how the D16 headers is designed!

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for. Is that the catalytic convertor with the heat shield wrap around it?
