Squeel when I launch...
I have a 2000 GSR and I noticed in the past week, whenever I launch from a stop light, or stopsigh, or whatever, there is a squeeling noise when I launch after engaging the clutch. It happens sometimes in second gear too. Does anyone know what this problem is? And is it reason for concern.
Thanks in advance!

No that would be obvious now wouldn't it. It's not like I pop the clutch...lol.
Sounds more like a belt squeel, on my moms 91 accord, sometimes when you start the car it squeels, it's that kind of noise, but it happens when I launch. I called Acura and they said it may be my timing belt...any objections anyone????
No No aftermarket clutch

I know enough about my Integra to get me by, but what is a throw out bearing??
No aftermarket clutch, yes most of the time the A/C is on, but wouldn't the belt make that noise ALL the time, not only during a launch?

Occasionally my car makes a little squeel sound as the clutch is engaged onto the flywheel, but that usually only happens when I let the clutch slip a bit as it engages, like when rolling slow, downshifting to 2nd and then going again. So I'm pretty sure it's something on the clutch/flywheel friction surface, but I guess the throwout bearing could be a possibility (not really sure why it would make that noise, though).
Well I just called the acura dealer, they said it may be a belt, but they also said it could be a throwout too, they quoted me $1100 for work and parts. I was even thinking about trading it in for a Type S TL too.

retarded, it shouldn't even cost that much to replace your clutch.
The throwout bearing itself is like a $40-$45 part.

that is dealership rape!..that is ridiculous, their probably gonna say " this needed to get fixed as well..etc" adding up to that cost.

Any competent mechanic, working in a shop with a lift, should be able to change a throwout bearing in 3 hours, maybe 4 TOPS if working alone.
So if they charged $1100 for the job they would be charging $262.50 per hour for labor, to change a $50 part
