DID A search couldn't find my answer. my buddy just replace his 96 d16y8 motor in his 96 civic ex . he got a 99 d16y8 to replace it. everything seems to run fine but it bogs at 2500 rpm and then its fine . just wondering if this is due to ecu being a obd2a. if so how can I correct it with out having to change the harness or ecu. thanks in advance

its the same motor. do a tune up. your ignitor might be going bad. tps might have a flat spot in it

The same thing just happened with my buddies 97 ek we just put a 99 b16 into. Still havent figured it out. I'm guessing you used the obd2a motor harness? Did all of the sensors plug in?

 

well what engine harness did you use? timing set? any CEL's?

 

obd2a engine harness , no cels and the installer set the timing
