I was reading an article titled "5 horsepower for under a buck" in the latest Import Tuner. In this article they stated that K-series motors have weak ignition systems, so they tend to misfire and lose HP at high RPM's. Has anyone here encountered any problems with this? Has anyone here used any products to help supplement the factory ignition system in thier DC5 or EP? What works, what doesn't....Thanks everyone.
Well generally, the K20A3 in the Si's aren't really that potent when it comes to tuning anyways.
An ignition system upgrade can pull a few HP out from what I can guess. I'd be in to see the before and after dyno sheets to see how it would come out.
But I'm not thinking you can do it for less than a buck though.

Well, It's actually like $10-15 after the supplies are purchased. Basically, all they do is cut the ground wire on each of the 4 coils and ground them to a custom made aluminum "grounding plate" which they mounted right behind the valve cover. In the end they dynoed it, it made 4.5 HP to the wheels....preety cool. But I'm mostly interested in what products are there to help supplement the factory ignition system. Has anyone here used the XS Powerpack? Buddy Club condenser?
