Aside from the lack of torque, I was curious as to why there aren't more of these swaps done?
Cost-wise its a very cheap way to get HP.
I understand that this a a reccomended swap for g2's but why not for g3's as well.
Most people think Its due to the weight difference of the cars, but the g2 gs according to car and driver has a curb weight of 2680 vs the g3 ls at 2660? Can anyone explain?
This is out of curiousity of course. I was just bored and had some thinking to do.
Really though. A first gen b16 swap can be had for about 1200 complete and would bolt in?
Opinions please?

only if you're more interested in hp than torque. There's a saying, goes kinda like "Torque moves cars, horsepower sells car." In real world driving, the torque's gonna help you more than the hp.
Man you must be bored if you reply to your own post like three times haha. Well if you get a B16A motor then a good idea is to get another B16 block, bore it out 84mm. Then you'd have a 1.8 that can rev to 10k RPM!

a first gen B16 wouldn't work because it is a cable tranny. So you would have to buy a hydro tranny to match it or do a hydro to cable swap (not easy or fun). Second gens go for about a lot more, then its worth it to go to a GS-R engine. That is my take on everything, HTH. Now you don;t have to reply to your own post anymore

is it worth it to sacrifice 14 lbs of tq for 20 hp?
I would never put a smaller motor into my car. If i'm gonna swap, I'm gonna get some displacement out of it. I've beaten SI's numerous times in my LS, so there's no way I would swap that motor in.
Oh, and the quote is "Torque wins races, horsepower sells cars"

But you already have a 1.8L stock!!! Why spend the money to buy a b16 and swap it in, and then spend even more money to stroke it! I would keep the 1.8 and take the money you'd spend on a swap, and sleeve the 1.8 and bore it to 84mm to make it a 2.0L, or buy a b20 block. With the money you'd spend to swap in a b16 and stroke it, you could make the car a lot faster with a 1.8L bored, or a b20 block.
I swapped in a 2nd generation JDM B16A in my car in place of the USDM B17A. I gained about 10 hp, and only lost 1 lb-ft of torque while losing .1 L of displacement. I have a 1992 GSR, and if you want to know why I swapped it:
Stroker kits put a lot of stress on the engine, namely the sleeves. I would't reccomend it. If you want to swap a B16A, might as well just do LS/VTEC for about the same price, if not cheaper. I don't know the prices. I'd do LS/VTEC if I were you. There's no replacement for displacement (except technology, i.e. VTEC).
