turbo, forged rods, and low compression pistons.

Saturated fuel injectors, larger fuel rail like AEM with an aftermarket FPR and a larger fuel pump.

Suppose if you're feeling special you can have the block bored a bit.

Should be ready to roll w/ a good tune, with that setup you can probably throw a good 200 or so at the wheels. It's honestly your best bet with a SOHC. If you want to keep your D16 naturally aspired (w/o turbo, nitrous, or super charger), it will be very expensive for minimal power gains.

As for cams, valves, 'n **** that you mentioned: You won't need a header if you go turbo because the turbo manifold will take its place. You can keep your stock valve train, but if you want to rev it out longer in each gear then yeah, you'll need new valve springs, retainers, valves, 'n the works...

So I guess what it really boils down to is what are your goals hp wise and how much money are you working with?

no what im thinking he's saying is he wants to stay n/a and to do that i'd say to build a complete high-compression motor...it wont be as fast as a turbo, but then again for a good rebuild it'll only cost around $1600

go with JE pistons and eagle rods, rebalance bottom block stage two valve springs and retainers, stage two cam sahft (crower) chip ecu (vision chip from jdmshit.com) feul rail, feul press.regulator, intake.(aem on those) skunk2 intake manifold CTR throttol body, MSD full ignition set up, port and polish, greddy exhaust, dc headers but stock headers are good, unorthodox crank pullys, leave stock cam pully its balanced and lighter than any after market. short shifter, get energy suspinssion bushings for the motor mounts. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS JUST ASK. IM BUILDING A D15b jdm vtec. LET ME KNOW IF U NEED ANY MORE INFO
