oh well its just my motor to go in it now to get me from a to b while i build my fully built d with a nice t3/t4 set up.....so it will have less power then a y8? i thought the blocks were virtually the same and that the difference was all in the heads.

y7 = low compression
y8 = high compression
a6 = higher compression

y7 block + y8 head is higher compression than a stock y8 motor (only by a couple tenths though). and the blocks themselves are almost identical, so it shouldn't make a difference which one you use.

you'll probably see about the same power as a stock y8, the compression bump is minimal and i doubt you'd notice any difference.

the difference is the VTEC crossover... you hear it more with a y8 block....

So my standard D16y7 engine with a Y8 head should show some power gains?

Also plan on a 1.4litre(1400cc) header(exhuast manifold) i'm told more free flowing as catalytic converter is smaller and located further back the system.
Right??

I thought D16Y7s were non-VTEC. Maybe I'm wrong....
*saracasm*

D16Y7 - non-VTEC
D16Y8 - VTEC
