Are they the same? Or is one better/stronger than the other?

The compression is the same with either head on either motor then right. just curious.

actually compression is higher on the y8 due to pistons (i believe)

^^higher compression due to vtec valve train, and thinner headgasket

d16y7 and d16y8 both have the same block, and all the internals are the same, it's just the heads that are different...but the y8 head flows better than the y7...

so a y8 head on either a y7 or y8 block will yield the same compression.

Some wrong info going around here.

The Y7 head yeilds 0.2 less compression than the Y8 head due to a large combustion chamber (lower CR)

Y7 head's combustion chamber= 34.6cc CR= 9.4:1
Y8 head's combustion chamber= 32.8cc CR= 9.6:1

Same pistons is memory serves...

The Y8 also comes with a super thin stock H/G.

Damn that's sort of like P72 and PR3 heads... 0.2:1 difference... hehe
