Default type s cams!!

Ive heard of people having bad experiences with these cams.Do these cams need better springs other than the stock ones?If my math is good,a 12.2mm lift should be around .480 " for the intake, and the 11.2mm for the exhaust should be about .440".....right??Anyone here use them with good results???

The problem with the TypeS cams is that the valve angle is very different on the TypeS head compared to the regular H22a head. At least 2 people have confirmed and documented excessive wear and damage to the cams and rocker arms after only 2000-4000 miles of use. One of them had his cams reprofiled by Endyn after discovering the damage. He did not have the same wear issues after the reprofiling.

I would not recommend using the TypeS cams in a US H22a head.

When was the last time he pulled the head to check the cam surfaces and rockers?
Alot of people run TypeS cams and have no operational problems. But very few people inspect the head after it's been put back together and run for a while...

So that would mean that the type s head casting may be different.maybe the combustion chamber angles may be different?Different ratio rocker arms??

Yes, the head casting itself is a different part. On the TypeS head, the valve seats are at a 45 degree angle. On a regular H22a head, they sit at 60 degree angles.

Ah ha,i thought so.Its no wonder they can use such a high compresion piston...if thats the case, then the type s piston in a older head might have a different compression than the type s !!!Things that make you go Hmmmmm

i have type s cams and had them in about 8500 miles now,(car has 39000), and i drive my car pretty hard. I do have Type S valve Springs, and retainers though. Will this solve the problem? do i need to worry??
