Default Emergency radiator fix

A friend of mine was in the middle of nowhere and had a rad leak.
He had a case of bottled water for himself and had been filling the rad with it to get home.
He ran out of water, and put a bottle of Gatorade in when that was all that was left.
The leak stopped!

Thought you guys might like to know.

It's possible that the sugar cooked in the solution and formed a glaze on the inside of the radiator that temporarily sealed the leak.

on myth busters they used an egg, and it will stop the leak for a certain amount of time.

my buddys rad had a crack in it and he put some of the leak stop stuff in it (that you can buy at autozome/orielys where ever) for like 3 bucks. and it works

I'd flush the hell out of that coolant system now. Get some "Quik-Steel" from Autozone. I used it on my gf's rad. Works fine.

NO JOKE....

I did the same thing once, b/c I was like completely out of coolant...and I needed to get to the next gas station, about 2 miles away

It did the job, I guess it was all those carbohydrate-rich electrolytes?

But since that happened, I always have a tube of alumaseal in my glovebox...just in case

Agreed you better flush that system out really well. You could have a big mess on your hands. At least it got it home. That is what matters.
