Default Xenon Bulbs burning out??

Hey guys, I have a problem with the driver side headlight. It seems to me that every 3 months or so my driver side headlight bulb burns out. I'm using xenon bulbs that i bought for about $20. Dam things keep burning out except for my passenger side one. It never burns out. I don't under stand. Do you think I have a short in my car or something? What can I do to fix this and or should I just get a better set of xenon bulbs? Thanx

what color are the sylvania superstars? Are they white? blue? I'm able to order them from a website. pretty good. I know the stores around here just don't have them. I don't know why.

do you touch the bulbs with your fingers when you install them?

nope. i remember once i did and that caused the bulb to blow out. But i haven't touched these with my hands at all and i carefully installed them. my last 2 pairs blew out in the past 4 months. Xenon bulbs are just a waste of money. If i've learned anything, I've learned to not buy any cheap parts for my car anymore. Cheap parts = more money in the end.

That's not true at all. It doesn't matter at all how much you payed for them. The same was and still happening I had a Set of RAZO Premium White lights installed and these things are like 80 bucks and all of a sudden the driver side burns out. I go and get some 40 buck ones and the same thing happens. So the tech I go to said clean out the housing and check for any moisture or debris. So far everything is cool. I plan to get HID's this summer and I would HATE for one bulb to burn out. its like 200 bucks to replace a bulb.

The Sylvania Silverstars are pretty white, very bright. Better than PIAA's IMO. I have 2 I can sell you for $20 a piece. I have them on my Teg now (for 1 week) but I'm coming across some money and want to get real HID's. Let me know.

what should i do to clean the housing? How can I clean it? I remember that I cleaned the housing out a few months ago and it seems that the bulbs burnout when it rains really hard outside or if there is a heavy snow storm. Maybe water is getting on my harness somehow. let me know what i need to do to prevent this. thanx

try the POLARG hybrid bulbs. they work good. usually, bulbs burn out of because of the oil left on the lense from touchin em or from any contact with a substance. sometimes, the quality sucks and they burn out anyway.

I have a 97 GS-R and I am experiencing the exact same problem except with the passenger side headlight. No, it is not because of oil on the lens, as I carefully have installed 4 bulbs over the last 6 months. The drivers side light has never gone out. I will try the above advice of taking the assembly out and cleaning it and checking it thoroughly. Not sure what else to do.

i got the silverstars with the conversion...I think its well worth the money. when I pass other tegs with stock bulbs, they are so yellow, make my light look like god, (when no CL's are around....)

HID bulbs have a warranty -- no worries. they burn a hell of a lot cooler than the xenon bulbs. im done with xenon. had one blow up in my housing, covered the whole lense with the gas. now i can hardly see out of my right headlight
do it right -- go hid first before spending 400 on 20 pairs of xenon bulbs

I have never ever in my life had a Sylvania bulb fail on me prematurely (i.e. only after a few YEARS of use). But then again, the POS Hiper bulbs I had in my old car never burned out on me, either, after almost 2 years of use (the blue crap was flaking off, but the bulb was still good).

What should I use to clean the inside of the headlight. I remember taking it apart before and getting anything into the headlight was hard. I managed to stick some tissues in or paper towels and attached it to a clothes hanger. That helped me out a little in cleaning the inside. Does anyone know a better way of cleaning it out? Thanx.

I used a hairdryer to break the seal on the plastic cover, removed it and cleaned the inside, then pumped some window sealant back into the channel around the edge of the housing and put the plastic cover back on. It's a MAJOR pain to get the old adhesive out of the channel but it works.

Ive heard of people taking the housings out of the car and then just sticking a hose in there and clean them up with some preassure...but i dont know how effective it is...

I think i'm still under warranty so should i just pop in some regular halogen bulbs and tell acura that my bulbs keep burning out on the driver side? I really don't want to take the whole assembly apart and don't feel with messing around with it. I'm just going to plain and simple just say to acura that I get water build up in the headlight unit when it rains hard or if i wash my car and that my bulbs burn out for no reason.

Do you guys that that will work?
