I'm drivin down the highway, nothing unusal happening when I start to smell a very slight burning smell. Didn't smell like any fluid that I know of, and about 30 secconds after this my car dies (it was in gear so the car kept "turning over"). I put it in nuetral and coasted to the side of the road, noticing a CEL (code 1, O2 sensor). I'm pretty sure this was becasue the car was not burning all the gas that kept going into the motor, and I could also smell a hint of gas.

At my house my buddies and I were tryin to get this problem figured out, so the first thing I did was reset the ecu and try to start it. At first the car would turn over for 2 secconds like normal and then the lights would dim, the car starter would almost come to a stop, then this process would repeat itself.

I tried startin it a couple of other times tellin my friends to look around the ignitor coil (next to the clutch bleeder, looks like a soda can and a redbull can put togeather). The then saw a spark come from that area. Sounds great, problem solved, I replaced that part that I luckily had lyin around the house.

Now when I start the car it sounds like (bear with me) a normal start that sounds a little cloudy and goes something like "rean din-ta rean din-ta" and does not start. I'm pretty sure that there is fuel b/c I could smell it when the car died and the O2 CEL. I pulled a plug and tried starting it and there was spark.

What the hell do you think is going on? I am at the end of my wits, except to pull my fuel injectors and check/ replace my fuel filter and check the pump...

how about replacing the o2 sensor?
