What did I just buy and was it a smart decision?
I think I got a great deal on an engine and supercharger but I have some questions. First here is the lowdown on both:
B18C1 block 81mm
Endyne 9:1 compression pistons
Eagle Rods
Jaks Oil pump
AEBS headstuds
ARP rod bolts
Cometic Headgasket
Stock GSR Head
Block Guard (see question below?)
JRSC with only blower/manifold/some brackets/ high boost pulley missing bolts and stuff and belts and hoses.
So the guy I bought it from had the engine built by a reputable shop one injector failed and the #3 piston melted and blew a hole through it. The cylinder wall does not feel scratched but I have no cluse what I should be looking for. I was checking it out and noticed it had a block guard. I cant find out what kind it is though. It has small holes drilled all around it and says UP. All in all I payed $650 for everything. What kind of block guard did I get? What kinda things am I going to have to do (bore, hone, machine, new pistons, rods?)? Was this a good investment at all?
Sorry I have no pictures I can get some within the week to show the damage.
EDIT : Pics

It sounds like you got a good deal Greg. I would take it down to a machine shop, and have them check the tolerances before dropping any money into it. At this point, I think you could still get your money back out of it if you had to. How is your "other" stuff doing?
Sounds like you got a good deal. Check out the sleeves if worst comes to worst you may need to bore it over .5mm and get bigger pistons. And if its not that bad you might be able to get away with just honing it. About the blockguard you really shouldn't worry about that. What could have caused a problem with the first build was that by putting a block guard with sleeving you tend to put pressure on the inner part of the sleeves causing damage to the rings, walls, pistons. If you need to resleeve or bore it over the new setup will work better. good luck

casey at modacar actually built this engine tom so I know it was done right it was just an unlucky bad injector. My "other stuff" is doing good, but my front right suspension(not sure which part) squeaks on EVERYTHING like any bump any pressure SQUEAK. It is killing me. I have taken apart the shocks and switched them so its not that. The lower and upper ball joints look fine. I am thinking the upper pillow ball mount has something to do with it.

If Casey had a hand on it, then you should be fine. He doesn't usually build the motors, he sends them out to a shop down the street from their shop. Just have a shop inspect the damage, and go from there.
As for your "other parts" squeaking, check out your bushings. When I had the "other parts" on my beast, I heard a similar noise. After I changed out the bushings for a set of Energy Suspension bushings the noises were gone. Since your Integra has about 156 trillion miles one it, it may be a good thing to look into. If the squeaking sounds kind of like a dog's chew toy, then I am willing to bet that you are ready for bushings.
In unrelated news, my "new parts" are freaking awesome. The whole car is dialed in right now. Oh, and I should be boosted by late spring or early summer. I am not going to go into details on the setup, but you are welcome to see/experience it when I am done.

when your "new parts" are done and my ls/vtec civic project is done. We should meet up so I can check out your setup. You will have one clean 4 door my friend, not that its not immaculate already.

That sounds like a great idea. How much longer until, you can legally drink? J/K we will definately meet up... I'll bring the Evo IX as well.

i have two integra's both of them squeakin bastards and both have always been the upper control arm bushings especially if you use camber kit, ingalls type are horrible for me ive been through about 5 sets. rubber is better but when it squeaks its dead the poly ones last a few weeks and start squeaking then put lube goes away and happens again
oh and not bad deal, hell the head is worth half that or more.

I replaced my bushings with ES graphite colored ones about 2 years ago. I didn't use their supplied grease, I purchased a graphite grease, and have been squeak free this entire time.

nice Ill have to look into it. I found out what my grinding noise was though. The ablancer on the axle was not positioned corecctly and was scraping against the lower shock fork.

Is it ok to mix different brands of pistons??? I found someone selling a je 9:1 piston with eagle rod and I was wondering if I could mix the 3 arias pistons with 1 je piston?
You want to replace all 4 pistons. If there was enough detonation and heat to melt 1 piston, theres certainly damage to the others.

the other ones look fine though. This block only has a 1000miles on it(which I know doesnt mean **** because a piston is melted). How do I tell if they are damaged also?

J/K PM me.

You can send the pistons back to the manufacturer for analysis. If youd like I can show you pistons that look perfectly fine as do yours but have micro-fractures from detonation.

I meant to say the pictures look perfectly normal as do yours but the manufacturer's anlysis reports they were in fact damaged.

o ok. Do you know roughly how much it costs to have the test done?
