Iam getting my car painted soon and want to get the all my trim/molding replaced or re-painted since alot of it is faded. For the windowshield molding should I take it out to have it painted? can you take it out paint it and put it back in? I know when my friend tried that on his old mustang some of the molding cracked since it was old.
the windshield moldis rubber..it pops out...the clips will break sometimes but you can get new clips. I wouldnt paint it. fwiw Im a autobody painter by trade.

QUE?
it is rubber but it does not just "pop" out nor does it have clips holding it inplace. the windshield molding wraps around the windshield so in order for you to replace the complete molding, you will need to remove the windshield. you can cut it out half way (like the shop manual says) and buy the half replacement that will just pretty much cover the piece you cut off.
