anyone care to shed some light on this subject long story short
top my car out in 5th gear at 9500rpm doing 150mph+
my distributor took a crap due to the rotor bolt getting loose and moving around in there bent all the terminals inside complete deformed rotor...bolt got sandwich between two terminals on the ignitor...blew out a fuse and crack the ignitor.... spun all my bearings in the process
replace all the bearings car runs like a champ beside the rpm signal once i hit 6500 it shoots all the way to zero and all over the place...but car still pulling smoothly...i just like to know what rpm i am at therefore...
so i went head and replace the dizzy shaft new msd cap and rotor...
i am running an external SS blaster
any idea whats wrong with it?

CHECK YOUR O2,VSS,ALT WIRES THEY COULD HAVE SHORTED </TD></TR></TABLE>
It is none of those wires...... they have nothing to do with the RPM signal.... look on your distributor and look for the RPM signal wire. I want to say its a pink wire but im not 100% sure right off the top of my head... but follow that wire and make sure there is nothing wrong with it.... it could also be the distributor itself, try your friends and see what happens it only takes a few mins to trade them out

i will keep everyone informed thats helping me out...thanks my friend was busy today...haven't got to it yet....i am gonna get an ohm meter and test each wire to see the resistance as soon as i learn how to use it another friend of mine was suppose to help me do that never called back either....after this problem fixed i got another problem to resolve....so many electrical problem
at one time my tach was doing the same thing. you may want to have the igniter looked at to see if it is bad. once i had put a new igniter in it was fine after that.
good luck
