Default What to do with block?? Dart or sleeved?

Im kinda confused on something and I wanted to know if anyone can help me out. How many people run a dart block? I know its pretty pricey but its also worth it to my understanding...I heard with a sleeved block you could easily drop a sleeve or they can shift or whatever but what kind of power are you guys making on a dart block? Thanks!

If the sleeves are installed correctly then you won’t have to worry about dropping one. That is why it is important to go with a reputable shop..... I recommend Benson, Import Builders and Golden Eagle (there are a few more also)

Thanks guys I appreciate it!!! How much power can a benson b series block handle with pauter rods and cp pistons and a stock gsr crank? I want to build a sfwd inspired street car but don't see much street time but runs like hell on the track!

Since your in PA, call up Jim Justice, and ask him about which sleeves you would need. Jim's the MAN!!!!

Since you live in the next town over from me shoot me a pm or come to a meet one night and we can chat. Also if you plan on running SFWD you better do some research. You can not run a dart block in that class. Also I just made 500HP today on a totally stock ls/vtec so first you should determine what your power goals are. When my darton MID sleeved block gets back I am looking to make 700+

Hey chad, I met you down at maple grove already with my brother chris. Ive been asking around about a block becuase my brother told me about what happend to yours and didn't want to deal with the same thing. (sleeve dropped?) I just blew my SOHC turbo, Something in the ecu touched and i guess caused #1 piston to det. But thats why I got all winter to build this thing the right way the 1st time!!! Thanks guys!

1,000HP so far that I know.

The mid-sleeve kits are made by Darton in CA, no relation to Dart.

i know with that benson setup you mentioned you can make a **** load of power, and as stated its really important who you get to install these sleeves! make sure the shop is reputable and has done the sleeves millions of times. the GSR crank is sick, and is good for lots of power, although there are very strong, yet lighter cranks out there. i would recommend going sleeved, for $$ reasons and also allows you to run class races with no problems. i run a dart block, not because i planned on running such massive power (well, now i do) but because i was offered a brand new fully built dart block for really cheap. i got pretty lucky. dart block is a thing of beauty tho. bored out to a 2.0 liter, eagle crank, rods, and JE pistons. its very stout, and just looks like it can take a beating.
