quick question
in your opinion ht faithful can a person say that import tuning is there HOBBY if they have not yet installed/bought performance upgrades but are however well educated on what import tuning is really about and will buy said upgrades in the near future... i really want to know what you guys think so lay it on me
import tuning = tuning an import.
You my friend are an import enthusiast. I dont consided minor bolton's a "tune" a real tune is when u pics certain parts for a distinct feature, or you maximize something using a "tuning" tool ( like spring rates/enginemanagement/brake balance)
Most people that consider tinkering on honda's a hobby i wouldnt call tuners, i would just call them enthusiasts.

I guess it depends on what way you look at things. I would say anyone could be an import enthusiast, but only the people that truly work on imports can be hobbyists. I guess it's all down to perspective.
thanks to the both of you
i really enjoy what real import culture is i just dont have the ability to act right now i just wanted to know how to explain myself to people because lately i have been catchin some from people because my em2 only has rims and a strut bar
i am really ready to get into it because i could become as book smart about this as i wanted to but with out that hands own it really doesnt mean alot but thanks again

Dont worry about people giving u flack man, doing things slow and doing ur homework is ALWAYS better than rushing into things. Props on reading, to many newbs now adays dont take the time to read before they mod, Or even worse, rich newbs paying people to mod their car
I'm pretty much in the same situation mate.
I'm a keen enthusiast too, and I live and breath cars and the modifying scene, but as yet my car is totally standard cos I'm saving up to blitz the whole thing (wheels, drop, lips) in one go.
But as stated above, i would't consider myself a tuner - even after my car is wheeled, dropped and lipped - because I haven't and won't have done any tuning.
I'm an enthusiast, simple as that.

That's all you need to be, as well. As long as you enjoy yourself, that's what matters. Trying to prove yourself to someone else won't get you anywhere in life (unless it's a job interview). So, go out there, learn as much as you like, and just have fun with it.

I hope that in 2 years, I can call my garage an official Car Extremist's Garage.
