Default ***the official prelude supercharger thread**

well, for lack of information everywhere about supercharging preludes different options, and setups, I figured i'd make this thread so people can get a central point of information. I don't have anything to contribute besides questions..

I'm trying to decide on weather to go supercharged, or turbo. If I go turbo, it's probably not going to be a monster, something that will spool up quick. My question is if there is really room with a supercharger to upgrade to a decent amount of power.. with a turbo there is plenty of different options... thanks for any help and if anyone has more questiosn to ask, ask them here and if we get enough info in here maybe it can go in FAQ.

with the supercharger options available for the h22, ie only the jackson racing unit, heat becomes way too much of a problem to make big power.....

shark cohen would be great on this thread...

but i remember reading stuff he was saying about it and it came down to the fact that having a turbine mounted to your head is horrible for heat...

i would reccomend a small turbo setup for good spool time, if you size it all right by doing all the math, you should be able to put together a quick spooling setup and make at least 300-350whp and some great torque

I have a H23 with about 150k miles on it, what should I replace (cams, pistons etc) so I can run a average of 8psi of boost?

im against superchargers, im turbo all the way, more efficant, and just what i like and use.

but to be fair doesnt vortech make a supercharger for our cars? this type isnt a roots style(i think thats what the one mounted to the head is called), it would be a centrugel(again think thats what the other is called, could have these mixed up). difference being, the latter mounts to the front of your engine and has a pully turned by the crank like the others, but then has a shaft that goes to a compressor like a turbo, so u can still intercool it and all. im not sure about how efficant they are, or top amount of boost, but wanted to throw that out there...

the jackson is a roots type

vortech makes a universal turbine, you would have to completely fab the rest of the kit, which will most likely require relocating the alternator in order to make room for the turbine, which is pretty large from what i can remember....

also, the superchargers that look like turbos are known as centrifugal superchargers....

That would be pretty nice if vortech made the kit for the h22a. The only way I could probably picture it in there is if the battery was out of the way completely, have a cai-style tube feeding into a sidemount(?) and then to the side (after the radiator) and up to the centrifugal charger (which would probably end up being mounted in the area the battery sits at). have the filter sitting behind the pass-side headlight with its own little "heat-shield" thing (kinda how some of the intake kits for lexus', bmw's and 350z/g35's I think).
Or if you wanna use the air/water style, angle the compressor so it shoots straight to the tb and basically plumb that sucker inline (from compressor to throttle body) like the other vortech kits for the gsr/si. Then you can have the filter come out and down the hole the CAI filter would sit. just a thought, would be pretty cool tho. I'd like to see a kit like the one I mentioned above (using a sidemount), picturing it would makes it seem pretty nice (although a definite one-off), and could put down some nice #'s maybe? who knows, its 3am and I'mma get some z's.

you would have to get one of those shafts that goes all the way across the motor, and then mod it to fit an h22.....i dont think they make anything like that for us.....i suppose they want you to mount this thing on the crankshaft side of the motor....

plus, it'd probably get in the way of the power steering pump.
oh well, just a thought.

haha, power steering pumps are for losers. S/C's are too expensive. you could spend the same on a turbo and come up with alot better numbers

the only reason I could see to do a SC over a Turbo is if you have an SH and want to keep the ATTS.

I'd really like to see someone figure this out.

wonder how hard it would be to adapt and or modify a civic or teg kit to fit an h?
