I don't even want to know. Probably at least a few thousand.

According to ALLDATA labor guide. Calls for 10.8 hours. This includes remove and install cylinder head and oil pan, hone cylinder walls, and plastigage bearings. My labor rate is $65 per hour. Labor only would be $700.

you sir are an idiot. don't poke your head in things you dont know.

depending on which labor guide you are going by, it calls for 9.5 to 11 hours. With 70ish being the average labor rate these days, you are looking at anywhere from 650-700. Most wont charge this much.. but its best that you remove the head and take them a simple shortblock... might save you some cash in the end

Yup, I'm an idiot.

Actually, I would call someone who has to pay to have someone to work on their car an idiot.

I've heard quotes on head gaskets alone that were over $1000. I figured that since installing new rings requires quite a bit more work than a simple head gasket that it would cost more.

But what do I know? I build all my own engines and do all my own work.

i charge a flat rate of $600 thats me take your engine out tear it apart... hone the block for the knew rings.. new rod bolts.. head gasket, valve cover seal,(all parts included in price.. i tend to ask the customer if they would like for me to replace their rear main, crank seal, cam seals, water pump, timing belt while i have it out.. (this is free of labor as long as you buy the parts)
