Default Turbo car getting hot

hey guys, heres the deal. i have a gsr block, stock sleeves, cp's and eagles, with a built b16 head. the engine is turbocharged. i used an ebay half size radiator. i had the car tuned, and it was perfect. then it started getting hot around 20 pulls. BUT when it did, it was leaking coolant. i brought it home, and it sat for a while. its got a stock fuel pressure regulator. i put a new walbro 255 in it (not sure if its the high pressure, got from a friend), and a different TB on it. the last one was 68mm and this new one is 70mm. so i fixed the coolant leak, and tried to drive it. right away i noticed it pig rich. idling at 10.1 to 10.5. i went to drive it, and when i finally went to get in it, it hits a brick wall at around 5500 to 6000. it was tuned with neptune and was just fine.

so it wont rev past 6k under load, but itll free rev to the 9400 rev limiter.

AND its still getting hot. when it sits and idles, its just fine. fan comes on, and its really stable. then i start driving it, and after a while it starts creeping up agian. when it was idling and at full running temp, i had some coolant boil in the overflow.

i drove it to the parts store to get a new radiator cap, and when i got home, we popped off the old one, and it sat there and hissed pressure and steam for OVER A MINUTE with the cap half cocked. now, its making 200psi on a compression test, no coolant in the oil, no oil in the coolant. havent had a chance for a leakdown, but im pretty sure its fine.

so WHY is my engine over heating? and why wont it rev past 6k?

im getting a fuel pressure gauge tomorrow.

it just starts to overheat, past the halfway point on the stock coolant temp gauge

That has happened to me before.. coolant leak was fixed but I didn't have enough coolant. Under load it was fine (circulation) but sitting there idling in the sun really heated it up.

Keep checking your resevoir tank. I lost .5 gallons without even realizing it. (car never overheated and was fine the week before, but just drank it all)

I think the car shutting down under load is a seperate issue..

Try a new thermostat, but the stock gauge isnt all tha correct , did you bleed the system??? Also its gonna smoke and hiss if you take the rad cap off after you just drove it

new thermo, wire fan to run full time, heat wrap downpipe/dumptube if they run close to radiator, upgrade radiator if necessary

theres 800hp street hondas running at good temps theres no reason you cant, just need to identify the problem

could be your rad dude, i have the same one i think.. and im running hot, and i think my prob is the rad, dosent flow/disipate heat all that well. Upgrade to a fluidyne and dual fans, 1 pusher and puller. Wire fans to stay on all the time.

So AFTER the tune you put on a bigger TB, fuel pump. You goof, go get it re-tuned now!

well im having the same prob with my turbo gsr also, i changed the thermo. i changed from a fluidyne radiator to a stock half size rad. and it still doing it. the only thing i think it could be is the head gasket that the next step that im goin to try. i mean i dont have no coolant in my oil either but i tried everything else, maybe you can try changing the head gasket also, and see what happens. if you find a solution to the prob please post. thanks

Could be the rad but if it worked before then i doubt thats the prob but you never know, but theres no need for 2 fans or to have the fan run all the time, you have a problem by doing that your just sweeping the problem underneth the rug. get a new thermo from honda, jack the front of the car up take the rad cap off and let the motor idle for 20-30mins and that will get any air out of the cooling system

also if the stock gauge isnt going all the way over to the hotside you might no be over heating, sometimes if your getting overflow its becuase there was to much fluid or you got air int he system and its burping

2SLO says that his car hits a brick wall at 5500rpm, mine does it when it popps v-tec around 5000rpms, could this be because the head gasket aslo, are would it be somthing else?
