Default OT: Not a Honda but a Lexus hybrid

Just FYI, thought you hybridders (sp? is that even a word? ) would be interested to see what else is going on with other up 'n' coming hybrids...

Lexus IS430 - It's an IS300 chassis with the V8 from the newer LS430(?) sedan...oh and it's supercharged at about 11.5 psi Claimed output is right at 400 HP, and it's claimed to ROMP the new m3 while being a 4-door sedan (anyone know if they plan on doing a 4-door E46 M?) I'll take one in silver, thank you.

It was done by, umm, some japanese tuner company I think (aren't they usually?)

Just thought I'd spread the word, maybe put a smile on someone's face while they consider the possibilities.

BTW Sorry, know this is pretty OT, but I figured 'hybrid' was the best place to post it! Enjoy!

I like the idea of a lexus with the supra motor. I forgot which one it will work in, bu I know it has been done.

Supra and Lexus IS 300 uses same block design.
Difference is the supra has a turbo.... this should be doable.
Supra have reputation of being capable of 400 reliable HPs.

They can make alot more than 400 HP and still be reliable.

Why we have to go all that trouble to put a v8 in the IS300. Like the other person said GS300, SC300, Supra and IS300 share the same engine. They are capable of pushing 500 hp on stock components. I work for Lexus and I never see any S/C or Turbo come through my shop. Except the IS300 with Ltune(TRD) package. I used to love those IS300 but not anymore.

I have a video on my home computer of a Lexus SC300 with a twin turbo Supra JZA80 motor stuffed into it that runs something like 11s, but is racing and passing two 11 sec RX7s and 1 Viper 550.... pretty crazy.

I saw this in SCC. And although 400HP is not bad, I must say that it is not too good either, considering the hardware. A 4.3 liter, DOHC, 32 valve V8 should be able to easily make this kind of power without any forced induction. This would not even be 100HP/liter.

100HP/liter??? FACK 100hp liter... if that really mattered, then a supra would be slower than a civic si.....

The IS430 was done by TTE, the european version of TRD. Also, I must say I think a factory SC V8 would be awesome, the M3's would not have a chance.

Yea, trying to do this conversion yourself would be extremely difficult, but a factory 300hp V8 lexus would still be nearly as quick as an M3. I think that was the idea behind the concept, to show that the 4.3 liter V8 can fit into the IS300.
