Default Viper 791xv (process of installing)

So far i just wanna hook up the alarm so the basic functions work. Power, ground, door trigers, and lights are hooked up and working.

BUT i hooked up the hoodpin switch and it doesnt seem to be working.... HELP?

Ive installed other alarms before but this one by far is the most complicated. I also noticed most alarms had a YELLOW wire for the (+) ignition switch but this one doesnt. So my blue led is always blinking.

Did you connect the hood pin wire to the blue wire on the harness?

This is what you should try. Make sure the hood pin is grounded properly. Arm the car wait 15 sec then ground the hood pin wire. If it goes off check the pin. If you are doing this before the 15 sec the alarm never had a chance to check all of its zones and it by-passed the hood pin. Also you need to hook up the pink wire off the remote start harness. The alarm might also bypass the hood pin if it was triggered to many times. And need to be reset by turning the ingintion on. But the alarm doesn't know when to reset because the wire is not hooked up. This is called nusiance protection. This keeps your car from being towed because the law can have it towed if you arm is causing havik or going off to many times in one period. This also bypasses a faulty zone.

Oops, you didn't read your install guide, the dual stage prox sensors blue and green wires should both be connected to the blue (-) multiplexed input, zone 4, of the alarm brain, in the pix it looks like you have it connected to the impact sensor wiring. 94

ohhh, so it is to the blue one. In the back of the install guide it says the blue one is for the trunk trigger. So i hooked it up to the trunk trigger.

So if i hook the blue and green wire to the blue one. itll work ?

It can be used for any neg. (-) trigger, but because it is multiplexed it can trigger warning or full alarm, so use it for the dual stage prox sensor, connect the trunk to the hood pin input, it will mean trunk/hatch light will come on when you open the hood, [unless a diode is installed] no biggie, and remote start will not work with trunk/hatch open, just like it will not if hood is open.

You could connect both the trunk/hatch and the prox sensor to the blue wire, install 2 diodes one on the trunk/hatch line and one on the blue and green lines from the prox sensor then connect them to the blue wire,

One more thing, make sure there are no wires above the prox sensor, in fact, there should be no metal of any kind above the sensor 94

Yes that would be correct, the only thing now is the "direction" of the diode, make sure cathode, [end with white band] is on the sensor side and the anode end is the one you connect to the blue wire. 94

should be 1 adjustment screws on top side of box. 1 adjustment screw is for sensitivity between warning chirp and alarm trigger.
