Default Clutch problems

I have replaced the slave cylinder and the master cylinder on my 1990 Accord. When relpacing the master cylinder, the clutch pedal spring popped off. We did not see how it was positioned before hand. We have put the spring back how we think is goes and have tried to bleed the clutch. The clutch pedal goes to the floor, there is no air in the system and the clutch still won't engage. What am I doing wrong? Is the spring causing my problems?
